To say 2020 has been a strange year would be a massive understatement. It’s been one of massive uncertainty mixed with a little fear, not to mention a generous dose of frustration and annoyance. Our regular “runs” up and down the court have been cancelled, started again (albeit with restrictions) and then cancelled again but we continue on with the impressive optimism that we’ve always had.
Opportunities to see old friends, rekindle lost friendships and make new ones on the court have been a highlight of the last few years and to have that taken away has been ever so slightly cruel. But through it all we can be grateful that when this is all over we can still lace them up and shoot those questionable shots, commit those lazy fouls and our ageing bodies can be fooled by our brains that we’re young enough to go “all out” again. Others haven’t been so lucky.
So, as we prepare for the best Christmas we can try to have under the current circumstances, I wish you all a great festive season. Look after yourselves and your loved ones, spare a thought for those less fortunate than ourselves and remain positive that we’ll be back on the hardwood again soon.
I’ll make every effort to get better at posting next year and try and move this site from being a once a yearly update to, at the very least, once a week. You may regret that…
